MIST OF DEAD END - Exclusive Premiere Of A New Single

French preachers of the apocalypse, Mist Of Dead End (or shorter M.O.D.E.), are back with a new single, "The Depths". This is their second single after debuting with the stunning "Summerfrost" in January this year (check it out over HERE). It was once again produced, mixed and mastered by Thomas Betrisey (Drop from Sybreed, MXD,...) at his Downtone Studio in Geneva (Switzerland).
The band which is not even one year old proves once again that they are one of the most interesting newcomers on the scene by their unique and turbulent mix of post-rock, cold wave, metal and industrial music.
Mist Of Dead End's drummer Benjamin Marmier explained to us some things about the new single: ""The Depths" is our second single after the release of "Summerfrost" earlier this year. The concept is a bit different this time, as usual we tried to put and blend different influences in this song, but "The Depths" is divided in two parts clearly defined. The first part which ends with a massive metal/indus part, takes root in industrial music, while the second part is rather influenced by coldwave and post punk music. Both parts are separated by a short atmospheric bridge. The lyrics talks about a character (the same lonely soldier as in "Summerfrost") who's lost in a strange nightmare orchestrated by the Great Old Ones, he tries to get away for that dreamlands in vain and finally decide to dive deeper into it. The song was written thinking about the work of HP Lovecraft, and this is our interpretation of his universe. We were already influenced by HP Lovecraft during the writing of "Summerfrost", but this time it was a very strong intention to make our lonely soldier evolve in the dreamlands.
And he said next words about the future plans: "After that second single the band will follow its purpose to record more songs before fall 2014 to complete an EP. You can expect something very different for the forthcoming songs but always with the M.O.D.E.'s touch and sound. A little clue about the next song, there will be a very "danceable" vibe in it this time! We'd like to be ready to get on stage in fall 2015, so we will work on the live concept and start to rehearse very soon. We already planned a cover from a famous band (it's still a secret ^^) to include in our show."
Terra Relicta webmagazine is very proud of hosting this and to give you an exclusive pre-release premiere of "The Depths" and you can give it a listen in a Soundcloud player below. It will be officially released on Monday, 9th June and available as a free download from band's official website.
