DEATHSTARS – Tour Bus Catches On Fire, Forced To Cancel Shows In Italy, Will Continue Touring

Swedish deathglamers Deathstars, who are in the middle of their Claws Through Europe Tour, experienced major difficulties, as their tour bus caught on fire in the middle of Austrian Alps on their way to Italy. Fortunately, everyone is safe and sound, but the band was forced to cancel two shows in Italy. Nonetheless, the tour continues going as on schedule and regarding the horrid bus accident, Andreas Bergh stated that the bus came out of repair due to engine difficulties. After hitting the road again, right after the bus came out of a tunnel, the bus driver felt something was not right: "He asked if the back door was closed, so we went and checked it. It had something to do with the electrical system. All of a sudden he shouted that the bus was on fire. It only by a stroke of luck that we got out of the bus in time. We could have died in there." Around 15 travellers were on the bus at that time, most of them resting or sleeping. In just a few minutes, the rear of the bus, where the bunks were located, exploded, which caused quite a lot of damage to the trailer, which was attached to the bus, consequently ruining their instruments. Andreas added: ''Luckily, some of us were awake when the incident happened. Had we been stuck in the tunnel at the time of the explosion, we would have run the risk of everything becoming one big puff of smoke and a truck slamming into the bus. It could have been a disaster. We may cancel the gig in Italy, but we're going to Munich  late [Saturday] so hopefully it will go well. We plan to continue the tour. It was really extremely, extremely close, and it could have been much worse. Imagine the whole damn bus catching fire while you are sitting inside it, and then it explodes. We literally had gotten out with seconds to spare, since the incident happened just outside the tunnel." Emergency services arrived quickly to the accident scene and took care for everyone involved. No one was luckily hurt during this horrific event, but Bergh added it will take a while before everyone will get over the emotional stress of the accident. Link
