Corina Cinkl's new solo project Black Heart is without any doubt one of the biggest dark pop revelations of 2016. On 21st June the debut album titled All Is Lost was released by Underwaves Records and Black Heart already with this album hooked all of us who missed something extraordinary in this specific genre. The album featured eight captivating emotional yet very dark songs which explore the darker spectrum of human existence; in its lyrics it explores themes of love, loss and longing.
Austrian singer, songwriter and also a producer, Corina Cinkl is known from her collaborations with and as a member of many intriguing bands or projects like are Ghost Actor, Black Egg, Vile Oblique, Normotone, Oppenheimer MK II, Collapsing New People and others. Her music sounds like a darker version of Lana Del Rey if blended with some lavish post-punk, ethereal electronic sound and gothic textures, and a pinch of that luxuriant darkness sometimes also similar to Dimanda Galas, but yet there's more. Corina writes, performs and has produces all of the Black Heart music so far.
A successor to the album will be a new EP entitled Alekto, which features a new song named "Alekto" plus a Normotone remix of it and a remix of the debut album title track "Black Heart" made by Knifesex, a solo project by Vanessa Irena known from cold wave/post-punk band The Harrow. Alekto EP will be released on 21st December 2016 as well by Underwaves Records and we are proud to offer you an exclusive pre-release premiere of the song "Black Heart (Knifesex RMX)". Listen to the song in the player below. The EP will be available to purchase from Bandcamp.
Corina commented about the song: "It is one of my favourite songs on the album, one of the first ones written for it. It is the song that gave the project its name. I asked Vanessa from Knifesex for a remix and she picked that one and I was very happy about the choice and the outcome." As well we invite you to read the recently published interview we did with Corina at this location.
