MY DYING BRIDE - Macabre Cabaret HJELVIK - Welcome To Hel

THE DANSE SOCIETY - New Single And Video Premiered Online

UK's female fronted goth/post-punk/darkwave cult band The Danse Society, who will release on 1st of September the highly anticipated new album entitled Sailing Mirrors, via their own Society Records, today premiered online the second single and a stunning video for the title track of the new album. Sailing Mirrors is an absolute cracker of an album and this album is the apotheosis of 40 years of history of the band and seventh album of The Danse Society.

Maethelyiah, the frontwoman of The Danse Society explains about the song and the video exclusively for Terra Relicta: ""Sailing Mirrors" is the title track of the 7th Studio album of The Danse Society. The song and video stand out completely from the experimental post-punkish new chapter of the band, still reinventing themselves after 40 years. The background of "Sailing Mirrors" dates back to 1998 when we wrote the song and kept it aside for 20 years. It was a song about losing a dear friend, that type of friend you feel kind of like brother from another mother. When you leave home early, some of your friends become your family. "Sailing Mirrors" rips the ribcage like an autopsy while you are still breathing. You can feel the knife forcing through your chest. That's how you feel when you lose someone you love. The initial demo is quite similar to the actual version, however, it's the band's team work that has turned it into a masterpiece. We decided to put demos together and make a list of songs for this new album and when "Sailing Mirrors" demo popped out, we all agreed to use it as title track. I was super-delighted when our former keyboard player David Whitaker accepted my invitation to be part of it, and wow his digital orchestra blew me away! Some things never change, just like friendship. When we started filming, we had the original storyboard I've been working with Paul (Nash). It has been pretty challenging as finding the right location, props and suitable characters wasn't a joke. However, like magic everything happened at the right time. Francesca Santamaria (awesome frontgirl of metal band Alexa De Strange, and also my favourite partner in crime with opera singing) incarnated perfectly the underwater creature. Dan joined last minute to incarnate the main character. The reborn mirrored creature was a fantastic creation of artist Callum Nash. I am sure whoever is familiar with esotericism and occultism will easily spot the symbols all along the video. Thankfully Nicole and Simon were happy to contribute to the shooting with their amazing drone, and we got our body bag from a nearby funeral director. Videomaking is one of my favourite forms of arts. I feel that "Sailing Mirrors" might potentially become a short movie at some point."
