EMPYRIUM - Unveils Second Single And Video From Upcoming Album

German dark romantic duo Empyrium - the masters of natural ambiences set to music - will return with a much-anticipated sixth album, Über den Sternen, on 26th February via Prophecy Productions. Today they have released a magnificent video clip "The Three Flames Sapphire" as the second single taken from their forthcoming album.

Empyrium comment: "Although our video single "The Three Flames Sapphire" features the first track of Über den Sternen, it was in fact the last song that we composed for this album", relates mastermind Markus "Schwadorf" Stock. "The song features many elements that Empyrium have always been known for and constitutes a great opening as it evokes a crucial mood of this album. This track has the Empyrium DNA imprinted deeply into its very core: acoustic instruments, the folklore vibe, vocals by both Thomas and me, harsh screams and electric guitars as well as the yearning melancholy of the multi-harmonic lead guitars. On top of this, its lyrics are based on a folk tale from our home region, the Rhön Mountains, which is both incredibly beautiful and tragic. We are proud to present this song in the shape of a video clip created by Oliver König, who masterfully brings this tragic tale to life. It tells of three will-o'-the-wisps that are haunting the black moor in images, which have 'Empyrium' written all over them. The three blue flames hovering over the moor at night are the cursed souls of three beautiful young maidens, who shall haunt your soul from now on!"

With their sixth full-length, Über den Sternen, Empyrium still draws from the magic and spirits of wild places, nature's beauty, and human relics of ages long past. Über den Sternen echoes this reconciliation of the old with the new on a musical level as well. The Franconian duo is putting more emphasis on the electric guitars and harsh vocals again, which marked their first two albums and stood strong upon the band's melodic black metal foundations. Yet Empyrium also revisits the dark folk style, which the Germans had progressively embraced on their third and fourth albums.
