BYRDI - Unveils Third Single From Upcoming Album

Norwegian Nordic folk act Byrdi just released the third single "Heim" taken from their forthcoming album titled Byrjing (Beginning), which is scheduled for release on 5th March via Trollmusic. "Heim" is a song about finding the right balance between challenges and growth on one side, and the need for safety and restitution on the other. Listen to "Heim" in the player below, and over HERE you can still watch the previously released video for "Huldre".

Byrdi comments: "The word 'heim' means 'home' in Norwegian. For us, home is where the heart lies. There, you will find peace, calm, and a place to regenerate your energy. Whenever you venture out to find challenges and potential for growth, afterwards you will come home to digest what you have learned and as a result change who you are as a person. This song is also meant as a homage to the beautiful nature of our homeland. Norway is our home and we feel a deep relationship with the land and the turn of the seasons here in the north."

With their third full-length Byrjing, Byrdi is taking the important step from a highly respected underground act to an established force within the realm of nordic folk. The Norwegians have recorded this album with the participation of various guest musicians including percussionist Kjell Braaten, who has performed live with Wardruna among other bands, and Mathias Gyllengahm (Utmarken, Norrsinnt) on nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle). Byrjing shows Byrdi in an almost intimate way and while their music may easily be labelled as nordic folk, the Norwegians foremost sound like themselves. Link
