German atmospheric black metal band Wandar have announced their new album, Tiefe Erde, set for release on 1 May via Vendetta Records.
Formed in 2006, Wandar emerged to cast a shadow over every ray of light creeping down from the heavens. Rejecting any form of flashy posturing, the band have built their name on crafting dense, immersive atmospheric black metal. Their sound is rooted in Scandinavian tradition, shaped by representatives of the Cascade region, and ultimately refined through modern perspectives and uncompromising standards.
Torn between raging fury and pain-filled lamentation, balancing eruptive wrath with melancholic powerlessness, Wandar create a state of ominous suspension — a menacing intoxication that can be dangerously beautiful to succumb to. Their messages are full of melancholy, longing, and absolute passion. Coming from deep within crypts, with scarred hearts and bloody eyes.
Having shared stages with acts such as Watain, Helrunar, Taake, Bethlehem, Der Weg einer Freiheit, Imperium Dekadenz, Eis, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult and many others, Wandar have long proven their ability to translate this intensity into a live ritual. Every show is a ritual; every ritual a wound that refuses to close, and with Tiefe Erde, Wandar bring a long-evolving cycle to its inevitable conclusion.
The band state: "We burned our temple of the elemental. We descended into the depths of transcendent hells. We bled, we suffered, we fell, and we became one with ancient earths. Tiefe Erde completes the circle we began with Landlose Ufer and Zyklus. The fire will always be light!" Link
