öOoOoOoOoOo - Samen (2016)

Band: öOoOoOoOoOo
Album title: Samen
Release date: 21 October 2016
Label: Apathia Records

Samen is the debut album from; öOoOoOoOoOo ('Chenille' in French or 'Caterpillar' in English). The unique fusion of avant-garde rock with too many genres and influences to list; a total mind-fuck of perfected abstract art, music and naked bodies. Full range female vocals, at times reminiscent of Evanescence and exceptional musical stylings take the listener on a journey through a schizophrenic multi-verse of experimental extravagance. The star of the show is the insane temptress and lead vocalist extraordinaire; Asphodel, who I believe takes her name from Greek Mythology, specifically the 'Asphodel Meadows' as written of by the likes of Homer and also Oscar Wilde in 'The Picture of Dorian Grey'. This album is more like licorice or marzipan than chocolate; by which I mean that almost everyone likes chocolate; not everyone likes licorice, but those who do REALLY like licorice!

In The Woods... - Pure (2016)

Band: In The Woods...
Album title: Pure
Release date: 16 September 2016
Label: Debemur Morti Productions

In The Woods... brings magic, once again they created a sonically provoking album of epic proportions which resonates maybe more than any other album released recently. Pure is simply another masterpiece made by In The Woods..., even though all of their albums are different there is and was always present an element that we can't miss and is a trademark In The Woods..., some musicians just have that necessary spell when it comes to compositions, to create magic. In the case of In The Woods... you can sense musical freedom and it's nothing strange that here and there some atmospheric elements can remind even to Pink Floyd, others to King Crimson or even Genesis, but overall this is an intense metal record with no boundaries and it should keep you occupied for quite some time.

Metatron Omega - Sanctum (2016)

Band: Metatron Omega
Album title: Sanctum
Release date: 16 August 2016
Label: Cryo Chamber

Metatron Omega has returned with their sophomore release, Sanctum. On Sanctum, Metatron Omega incorporates many of the themes and sounds which made his previous release, Gnosis Dei, such a success. Yet, we immediately hear a maturing of the artist and a more focused direction being taken. This is no surprise considering the large swathe of musical interests and outlets of the mysterious front man A.W. aka Scorpio V which is behind Metatron Omega as well as Paleowolf and Gaetir, The Mountainkeeper. Sanctum is an absolute must have for fans of sacral dark ambient, who prefer a refined and cinematic experience instead of the more hypnotic experience presented by acts like Halo Manash and others on Aural Hypnox.

Flowers For Bodysnatchers - Love Like Blood (2016)

Band: Flowers For Bodysnatchers
Album title: Love Like Blood
Release date: 30 August 2016
Label: Cryo Chamber

Coming off last year's massively successful Aokigahara, Flowers For Bodysnatchers first release through Cryo Chamber, Duncan Ritchie is back with another beautifully dark and somber release. Love Like Blood is a companion to Aokigahara. Using the same set of field recordings and concepts he collected on his previous journey to the center of Japan and the infamous Aokigahara Forest, Flowers For Bodysnatchers have produced another magnificent opus. Love Like Blood does nothing if not solidify Flowers For Bodysnatchers as an artists willing to do anything necessary to evoke the intended emotions of the listener. Duncan Richie pulls the heart strings of the listener, as he digs deep into the depths of sorrow, lost love, and a general hopelessness, on a very personal level.

Noctilucant - Oblivion To You All (2016)

Band: Noctilucant
Album title: Oblivion To You All
Release date: 18 July 2016
Label: Self-released

Oblivion To You All is the ominous second album from the cinematic dark ambient project known as Noctilucant. With all the insanity both in the modern public sphere and global politics; a world of conflicting ideologies, limited resources, autonomous predator drones and a growing nuclear arsenal, it seems that we could be experiencing the apocalypse any day now. This album will only reinforce that notion and maybe even evoke a lust for wanton destruction and the inevitable OBLIVION. Oblivion To You All is an exploration, a journey through a post-apocalyptic world three months after the cataclysm. It seems as though you are being guided by distant angelic voices; but are they leading you to safety, or somewhere else? Along the way it may seem as thought one has found refuge, and then... Oblivion To You All creates such an invitingly hostile environment that you will be hoping for the apocalypse to occur so that you can enter the world of...  Noctilucant.
