Canada-based ambient electronic experimental artist and a recent Juno Award nominee Anthony Tan has offered a new two-track release, susurrus, via his imprint gengseng records.
Susurrus is a brief yet moody foray into an electronically augmented piano. Its two extended tracks unfold patiently, combining extended techniques on the instrument itself with processing that spans murky to crystalline. The unique blending of instrumental sonorities and dense, unsettled atmospherics is sure to speak to fans of artists such as zoviet*france:, Tim Hecker, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Anthony Tan is also highly regarded for his work with ensembles. Most recently, in addition to earning him a nomination for this year's Juno Award, his recent piece for Montréal's No Hay Banda was a highlight of the group's debut recording and received favourable coverage.
