Doom metal band from the United States, Maestus, has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Jarrod Hyam (Chernobyl, Immure, Maestus, The Shitcore Noise Project, Weirding Way, Σοφος) with its cover single "Rainroom". Join the band in honouring Jarrod's legacy, and stay tuned for its upcoming new material.
Celebrating the life and legacy of Jarrod Hyam, Maestus reveals a heartrending tribute with its latest single, "Rainroom." Jarrod Hyam was more than just a musician. He was a philosopher, a writer, and a dear friend whose gentle, poetic soul harmoniously intertwined with the distinctive doom metal stylings of Maestus. As a keyboardist and vocalist, he lent his unique voice to Maestus's 2013's Scarlet Lakes and 2015's Voir Dire.
Marking one year since his passing, Maestus honours Jarrod's memory with a powerful rendition of Katatonia's "Rainroom" from its Brave Murder Day album. Tracked back in 2014 during the Voir Dire sessions, this cover marks the last song Jarrod recorded with the band.
Driven by Maestus's remaining members - SP on guitar, bass, and vocals, and CL on drums - this cover serves as a musical celebration of Jarrod's fervour for doom metal and his passion for a life imbued with beauty. Fans of Katatonia, Shape Of Despair, and Draconian will find a poignant resonance in this heartfelt tribute.
This single, originally engineered by SP in Eugene, OR, in 2014, has been meticulously remixed and remastered in Portland, OR, in 2023, providing a new depth and resonance that brings Jarrod's spirit alive in every note.
Looking ahead, Maestus is about to return to Sprout City Studios in Eugene, OR, this June to record its first new material since 2020's Daybreak's Advent. Exciting updates are coming soon. Join Maestus in honouring Jarrod's memory by immersing yourself in the powerful tribute that is "Rainroom." Link
