German horror/dark metal duo The Vision Bleak has unveiled another single excerpt from its approaching one-track album, Weird Tales, set for release on 12 April via Prophecy Productions.
The new offering, "Weird Tales Chapter II: In Rue d'Auseil", is accompanied by a hair-raising black & white video, which channels the golden era of silent movies with a classy nod to legendary director F. W. Murnau.
Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Schwadorf writes on behalf of the duo: "We present to you the second excerpt from Weird Tales, our one-track opus of darkness and grandeur! This one is a prime model of a classic weird tale and musically as much The Vision Bleak as it gets. It was one of the first themes written for Weird Tales and it is at the same time catchy, dark, and danceable. This part is 'Gothic' in the true sense of the word - with a slight 80s vibe due to the use of analogue synthesizers. The lyrics are based on H. P. Lovecraft's short story The Music of Erich Zann in which the violinist Erich Zann lets his instrument squeal and scream in a terror-stricken and dreadful orgy of dissonance which creates haunting, unearthly melodies. With this cacophony of horror, he conjures a portal to a cosmic void. A formless but sound-filled endless nothing forms outside the window of his room, ready to devour everything. Oliver König and Klara Bachmair of Mbience Visuals created these fantastic images to accompany this chapter of Weird Tales that match well with the story and evoke the great horror tale in a beautiful ambiance of yesteryears".
