Rising from the murky depths of the UK heavy music underground, doom metal collective Altera Doomonica has officially announced the upcoming release of their debut full-length, Angelic Doomology. The massive 10‑track opus will be available as a limited‑print physical exclusive upon its release on 25 September, while the full album is already streaming on Bandcamp.
A masterclass in sonic despair and crushing melancholy, Angelic Doomology bridges the darkness of traditional heavy metal with the sprawling, atmospheric sorrow of European gothic doom. Altera Doomonica draw deeply from heavy music lineage, blending the foundational, monolithic riffing of Black Sabbath, the gritty, muscular groove of Black Label Society, and the sweeping, poetic gloom of UK doom pioneers Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride.
The result is a sound that is punishingly heavy yet devastatingly beautiful. From the opening dirge of "The Silence Of Grief" to the groove‑laden, apocalyptic finale "Hand Of God", Angelic Doomology leads the listener through an uncompromising journey into the darkest corridors of the human psyche. Standout moments include the two‑part Latin‑titled epic "Reliquiae Pars I – Deceptio" and "Reliquiae Pars II – Vindicta", showcasing the band's ability to weave intricate, sorrowful narratives into massive walls of distortion.
With Angelic Doomology, Altera Doomonica deliver a debut that feels both steeped in tradition and boldly expressive — a towering statement of doom metal intent. Link
