Tenerife‑based doom/death metal outfit Magec present "Dissonant Coexistence", the first cut from their forthcoming musical chapter — a release that signals a new phase in the group's evolving sound.

Accompanied by a music video helmed by Laura De Sousa, the piece weaves references to the culture and traditions of the Canary Islands into its visual narrative. Rather than idealising their roots or separating them from present‑day realities, Magec place them in dialogue with the concerns and contradictions explored throughout the song. The title is deliberate: "Dissonant Coexistence" reflects the experience of living alongside conflict — the tensions of our time and a reality that is increasingly difficult to ignore.

Driven by rawness and sonic intensity, the track also offers a critical lens on the world around them. The experience of living and growing up in the Canary Islands permeates this new chapter: social concerns, the climate crisis, the consequences of the islands' development model, and political and economic pressures all form part of the context from which Magec write and create.
