Austin (USA)‑based darkwave and electronic rock project Mass Minor, led by multi‑instrumentalist Andrew J. Martin, Jr., marks a new milestone with the release of the single “Get Up”, out today (2 October) as the first offering under Metropolis Records.
Known for blending atmospheric synths, driving guitars and a distinctly cinematic sense of melody, Mass Minor draws from post‑punk, synth‑pop and alternative rock to craft a sound that feels both nostalgic and sharply contemporary. Since the self‑released debut Become Each Other (2020) and a series of EPs, Martin has remained a steady presence within the dark alternative sphere, earning radio support, multiple SXSW appearances and sharing stages with Twin Tribes, Ultra Sunn, TRAITRS, Vision Video, Urban Heat, Sacred Skin and others.
At 169 BPM, “Get Up” is one of Mass Minor’s most urgent and confrontational tracks to date — a stark dialogue with God about sin, money, mortality and the self‑inflicted burdens we expect to be saved from.
Martin explains: “This song is a conversation with God about problems we created ourselves. Maybe it isn’t God’s job to save us. Maybe we need to fix our own shit. You’re the one holding the light. Get up.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Teresa Jolie and edited by Beau Loy (Amira Entertainment/Battle Racer), is available to watch below. The previously released single “Nowhere Now” is still available to check out over HERE. Link
