After a somewhat quieter period following his departure from German melancholic doom/death metal unit Décembre Noir, the main songwriter, Sebastian Görlach, returns with his new brainchild, Avertat.

Musically and lyrically, Avertat picks up where his earlier work left off. The first new song, "[7]", released on Lifeforce Records, offers the full spectrum of death doom and, similar to Décembre Noir, explores the depths of interpersonal existence.

As is customary in Sebastian Görlach's previous outputs, "[7]" also references a historical event. In 1981, Marianne Buchmeier took the law into her own hands against the man who had murdered her seven-year-old daughter. The convicted sex offender had kidnapped and killed the child. On the third day of the trial, Buchmeier shot the perpetrator in the courtroom with a small pistol she had smuggled in, firing seven shots at him. Link
