Greek post‑black/atmospheric/modern metal collective Euphrosyne have released the official video for their new track “Mother Earth Betrayed Us”, offering the first sonic and visual chapter from their forthcoming full‑length album, currently in production.
Following the strong reception of their previous album Morus, issued through Swedish label Black Lion Records and praised widely across the international press, the band now return with a composition that pushes their sound into darker, more experimental territory. “Mother Earth Betrayed Us” expands Euphrosyne’s palette with broader vocal dynamics — including newly introduced male vocals — and a deeper dive into modern, textured atmospheres. The single also marks the first appearance of Pavlos Lyritis, who joins as bassist and backing vocalist.
Lyrically, the track confronts themes of ecological collapse, human hubris, and the irreversible scars left on the natural world. Its closing line — “Mother Earth betrayed us by letting us exist” — lingers as a stark reflection on humanity’s self‑inflicted downfall, suggesting that nature’s greatest mistake may have been allowing mankind to flourish unchecked.
The new material continues Euphrosyne’s evolution, blending emotional weight with sharp modernity. Mixing and mastering were handled by Psychon (Septicflesh), while Alex Despotidis composed the music and Efi Eva penned the lyrics. The accompanying official music video, directed by Manos G (Universe 217), visually amplifies the track’s tension between beauty and devastation.
