The USA-based dream pop duo Magic Wands has offered a new track, "Armour, through Metropolis Records.

Magic Wands' Dexy Valentine explains: "It's a reflection on the paradox of the human condition, the need for protection and an equally strong desire for freedom. The song explores those forces and looks to find a balance between shielding oneself and embracing vulnerability".

The Los Angeles-based (by way of Nashville) duo of Dexy and Chris Valentine is known for a unique and dreamy sound, which often incorporates elements of goth-tinged post-punk, dark dream pop, heavily textured guitars, synth drones and ethereal vocals to create an otherworldly atmosphere.

Swirling in midnight dance beats and guitar textures, "Armour" sees the band continue to broaden its sound from dark pop foundations into a more fully realised embodiment. "Last year, we released a new album entitled Switch, which was a departure from our previous sound and style", continues Dexy. "It was less pop, more experimental and introspective. The new music we're writing is in the same direction but a bit more minimal and uptempo."

Dedicated to creating music that is both imaginative and emotionally engaging, Magic Wands found success early in its existence, building a loyal fanbase that has continued to follow its sound explorations while also being intrigued by an air of mystery surrounding it. The duo has issued five studio albums, the most recent is Switch (2023). Its songs were also remixed by guest artists and released as Switched later in the year. Link
