The extraordinary Norwegian post-punk/dark romantic band Mayflower Madame just released the third single, "Never Sever", from the upcoming album entitled Insight. The album will be released on 1 November via labels Night Cult Records, Up In Her Room and Icy Cold Records. Compared to the preceding offerings "A Foretold Ecstasy" and "Paint It All in Blue", which have received great acclaim and extensive radio support, the new track shows the band's more direct and dynamic side. The characteristic elements of their deftly blended post-punk/shoegaze/psychedelia are still here. Their sound is still spun with alluring dark textures but is now profoundly interwoven with light rays and a bittersweet melancholy.
On top of this, there's a touch of rock'n roll swagger in the verses merging with a delicate flow of dream-pop sensibilities in the choruses, making "Never Sever" one of their most accessible songs to date. Lyrically, the song captures a nostalgic feeling of being unable to reclaim - or unwilling to let go of - a haunting past. Listen to "Never Sever" right below, and if you missed it, the previously released "A Foretold Ecstasy" and "Paint It All in Blue" are over HERE and HERE.
Mayflower Madame is Trond Fagernes (vocals, guitar, bass) and Ola J. Kyrkjeeide (drums). "Never Sever" also features contributions from Kenneth Eknes (synth). Link
