American black metal duo Nòtt has released a guitar playthrough video for "Ship In The Night" from its recently self-released album, Ruinous Divinity.
"We wanted to create the sense of a mysterious, unstoppable power that overwhelms all in path", says songwriter Roman Pinter. "Leaving all those that survived it, changed."
Nòtt was formed in 2017 as the solo black metal project of James Benson, known for his work in progressive black metal underground giants Amiensus and post-black metal veterans Chrome Waves. Soon after Amiensus released its controversial yet widely acclaimed album, All Parts Lead To Death (2017), Benson was left wanting to continue on the same path, leading to the project's first self-titled EP (2018).
Shortly after that, he recruited fellow Minnesota musician Roman Pinter (ex-Reaping Asmodeia, ex-Silva) for additional production duties and bass, leading to the progressive blackened death metal heard on the band's only LP of its career, The Great Furnace (2019).
Five years after its last release, Nòtt returned with its third album, Ruinous Divinity, featuring two blistering tracks and an experimental instrumental track. The album features a song written by each member, further developing its sound with more focus on melody while retaining its authentic black metal ethos.
"The third track, 'Ship In The Night', is special as it features Roman on guitar for the first time, bringing new influences to the record and future releases we have planned", says Benson. Link
