Death disco darlings from Phoenix, AZ, Paper Foxes, are back with their new single, "The Gallows". Far from a trip to the executioner, this builds on their reputation as one of the best independent bands in Phoenix and why their music has appeared on global platforms such as Netflix, MTV and A&E. With nearly a decade in the game comprising numerous singles and an epic album, the single marks a stupendous return to form since their enforced hiatus in 2022.
Surrounded by the desolate beauty of the Sonoran Desert, the single represents a complex fusion of textures, including post-punk, new wave, and 80s synth bands like Depeche Mode merged with the more gothic tones of Bauhaus - featuring keytar synths, nostalgic guitars, and drums coated in gated reverb, with resonant lead vocals. "The Gallows" could be considered a gloomy subject by many, but there is a rare dark magnificence which flows through the song that will trigger long-forgotten memories. Link
