Swedish symphonic extreme‑metal visionaries Zornheym present their third single, “The Funeral March”, taken from the band’s forthcoming studio album Descending Into Madness, arriving 2 October via Noble Demon.
Inspired by Frédéric Chopin’s iconic “Funeral March”, the track sees Zornheym weaving crushing riffs, sweeping orchestration and subtle Scandinavian folk elements into one of the album’s most dramatic and emotionally charged moments.
“‘The Funeral March’ is the perfect marriage between classical music and Zornheym’s cinematic symphonic metal sound,” the band states. “The choir becomes the mourners and pallbearers, lamenting the tragic fate of Dr. Bettelheim’s beloved wife as they accompany her final journey. Lyrically, this marks the defining moment in Bettelheim’s descent into madness — where grief, guilt and despair finally consume him.”
