Following the success of the sold-out guided historic tours in previous years, Prophecy Fest again teamed up with the City of Balve for a fascinating glimpse into local culture and history. This year, two different tours are on offer:
- Guided Historical Witch Hunt Tour (Friday, 12 September at 12:00 [CEST])
Prophecy Fest visitors may join a guided tour into the horrors of the historical witch trials. Led by a local expert, the focus will be on the period between 1592 and 1666, in which Balve became a notorious centre of witch hunts. Hundreds of women, but also men, stood accused of witchcraft, were tortured, tried in courts, and often brutally executed.
- Guided Historical City Tour (Friday, 12 September at 13:00 [CEST])
Participants of the second tour will be introduced as expertly as entertainingly to the fascinating history of Balve. The first recorded human activities point to the presence of Neanderthals in the Middle Palaeolithic, and local activities continued through all periods of modern humanity, with the official town charter being awarded in 1430.
Please note that both guidings will be held in the German language. The number of tickets is limited and they are already available for 5 euros through the ticket shop.
Also, the local council, Märkischer Kreis, has decided to offer free admission to all public museums within its borders. It includes the Luisenhütte (near the Cave of Balve).
Prophecy Fest and label's founder, Martin Koller, states: "The local community and the city of Balve have shown us much support in the difficult year since the last Prophecy Fest, which saw the schedule of the cave much reduced. Our mutual friendship reaches beyond the music, and we have again gladly accepted the offer of expertly guided tours about the history of Balve, dark medieval times, and sinister witch hunts for our guests. We hope that the about 45-minute-long experience will again be greeted with much interest as in previous years. Tickets are limited and we therefore recommend booking them now".
