The international atmospheric metal band Sojourner recently reported some big changes inside the band. First, the female vocalist Lucia Amelia "Lucy" Emmanueli (Ghostheart Nebula) left the band. The second news is that the band decided to depart from Napalm Records and return to their original home label, Avantgarde Music. The band also welcomed back their original bassist Mike Wilson. The most important news is that Heike Langhans (ex-Draconian, Remina, Lorelei, Light Field Reverie, ex-Ison) joined as Sojourner's permanent co-vocalist alongside Emilio. The band has also released a brand new single, "Epitaphs", the first track featuring Heike. Sojourner is right now working on their fourth full-length, which will be released at a date yet to be announced via Avantgarde Music.
Lucy commented: "With a very heavy heart, as of today I will no longer be part of the Sojourner family. I think I was incredibly lucky to cross paths with such talented musicians and crazy boys in 2020. As we all know, it didn't happen in the most favorable time for the music business and for international bands like us, but I will always be grateful to them for having me, and for the music we recorded together for the Perennial EP in 2021. What eases the burden of this decision today is that we both know it is the right choice - a mutual choice. I wish the Sojourners the best of luck with their new recording and future endeavors. I will be watching them on my cosmic journey with Ghostheart Nebula and who knows, maybe one day we will share the stage somewhere in the world. ‘The paths that crossed will cross again’."
The band adds: "As you just read, after joining us in 2020 and providing a beautiful performance on the Perennial EP, we are sad to announce that Lucy is no longer part of Sojourner. We don't need to restate what was already put so well by Lucy, other than to make it clear that it's completely amicable and we're still good friends. In a time where people feed on drama there really isn't any to speak of, sometimes our paths and priorities in life simply lead us in different directions. We’d like to thank Lucy from the bottom of our hearts for her time with us and we wish her all the best for the future. She joined our friends in the excellent Ghostheart Nebula last year and features on their newest album Blackshift, so please go and check them out! Although we’re sad to see Lucy go, we’re also incredibly happy to be back in full swing after the silence of the last few years. We have some very exciting news to share with you tomorrow...but for now, we wish Lucy the very best!"
Regarding the rest of the changes, the band had this to say: "We've had some big changes over the last couple of years: the band went through a long period of silence while we took some time away to reset, and with that came some changes in line-up as priorities shifted and personal circumstances changed. We decided to depart from Napalm Records and return to our original home label (and our biggest supporters), Avantgarde Music, and we welcomed back our original bassist Mike Wilson. Now, we have the final missing piece of the puzzle, as we welcome Heike Langhans (ex-Draconian / Remina) as Sojourner's permanent co-vocalist alongside Emilio. Some of you may have seen us share a stage on the 2019 European tour with Draconian and Harakiri For The Sky, and we couldn't be happier to have someone as immensely talented as Heike onboard. Since stepping up to fill the recently opened vocal position, we've already started making massive progress on the new songs in a very short space of time and we're excited to show you the next evolution of the band. We're incredibly proud to present 'Epitaphs', the first track featuring Heike and an early single from our upcoming fourth album (still to be officially announced, but due out next year). Link
