British goth trio Virgin Vampires is premiering the commanding new single and video, "Caligulae Insanus Imperator". This track comes off their upcoming album, Whores And Judaism, set to be released via Rune Serpent Europa on 21 July. Virgin Vampires is a sister band of the electro/industrial act Pink Panther Project.
The album opener, "Caligulae Insanus Imperator", is a raw and unadulterated plunge into classic gothic and post-punk, showcasing the band's shift away from electronics towards a heavier, more authentic 80s sound. Featuring Latin lyrics, the song opens with a crude dance and a powerfully delirious pace, setting the tone for the album's often provocative and anti-Christian themes. This track fully embodies Virgin Vampires' new sound, moving beyond their electronic origins into a more traditional gothic and post-punk style full of mysticism. It has a delirious pace, and it also features the powerful vocal contributions of Uela, seamlessly integrating with the male voices to create a complete and cohesive sound.
Speaking about their approach, the band comments: "We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this album. For us, this isn't just another album; it's a testament to respecting tradition while pushing the boundaries of modern music."
Whores And Judaism is a sure hit, its freshness, aggressiveness, and maturity immediately apparent. There isn't a single subdued moment, with every phase reflecting the album's powerful core – a true milestone for the post-punk gothic genre of our times, offering a pleasant contemporary dive into the past.
The video for "Caligulae Insanus Imperator" is available to view now, offering a striking visual complement to the track's intense energy. The previously released video single "At The Cemetery" can be found over HERE. Link
