Kammarheit - Unearthed 2000 - 2002 (2015)

Band: Kammarheit
Album title: Unearthed: 2000-2002 (75th Cycle)
Release date: 27 March 2015
Label: Cyclic Law

In 2015, Kammarheit is synonymous with dark ambient. But back in 2000-2002 Par Bostrom was just beginning to test the waters of this under-the-radar genre. The birth of his project Kammarheit seems like it must have been a true awakening of the senses for Bostrom. After a field-recording session at an abandoned factory he immediately produced his first album Shockwork that very night. What followed was a torrent of albums, six in total, over the two year span from 2000-2002. Yet these albums were not intended for public consumption. A testament to how deeply personal Kammarheit is to Par Bostrom, he produced these albums as a means to help overcome his insomnia. They were only shared with a handful of friends and family at the time. This is an amazing addition to Kammarheit's officially released discography, and a reminder that Par Bostrom was a natural from the beginning and in it for the long haul.

Sunn O))) - Kannon (2015)

Band: Sunn O)))
Album title: Kannon
Release date: 4 December 2015
Label: Southern Lord Records

Kannon reflects the will of the duo to evolve their sound from the "nightmare" to something more easy but intense, due the recent collaboration with Ulver, the sound is more rich of ambient parts and vocals are much more chilling. As usual music, concept and everything about the album goes around the massive and costant guitar riffing, as always, but in this case is more intellegible, more "metal", slightly more definable as a guitar sound, unusually clean and recognizable, mixed with eletronic synth and bass. Concept that unusually is more figurative and specific, around the multiple form of Buddah and his plurality, One, no-One, everything, nothing, incarnation of a goddes and so on.

Council Of Nine - Diagnosis (2015)

Band: Council Of Nine
Album title: Diagnosis
Release date: 1 December 2015
Label: Cryo Chamber

Council Of Nine keeps the momentum up with the sophmore release Diagnosis. After recieving justified praise for his contribution to the dark ambient compilation Tomb Of Empires, Council Of Nine brought us Dakhma a slow-rolling and deep look into his dark and often esoteric interests. Diagnosis is another step up the ladder to perfection as Council Of Nine's signature sound and style is fully realized. Diagnosis appeals to the tortured mind, brooding and full of a disconcerting warmth. One may immediately find solace in these tracks, yet they may also be as likely to find an inner demon rearing its ugly head.

Hearts Of Black Science - Signal (2015)

Band: Hearts Of Black Science
Album title: Signal
Release date: 20 November 2015
Label: Progress Productions

Reverberate bass lines, strong impactful beats, cosmic samples, rigorous gloomy keys, melancholic melodies, smooth guitars, irresistible loops, so very emotional, yet versatile vocals all over, with many breathtaking male/female duets and backing ethereal female voices, dramatic background speeches, are all reasons that this is one of those albums that gets easily under your skin, even if you're not really a fan of this musical genre. Hearts Of Black Science so inexorably keep everything perfectly balanced between sweet melodic pop and alternative dark music, never crossing the line too much on one or into another side, the only present constant is the melancholic vibe.

Dauden - My Soul Will Be Damned Forever (2015)

Band: Dauden
Album title: My Soul Will Be Damned Forever
Release date: 2 October 2015
Label: Self-released

The band plays a very good old school black metal with slight impact of older bands such as Urgehal, Beastcraft and old Mayhem. But a perfect studio sound adds into the picture kind of depth and somehow a mysterious feeling. On the other hand this is music that does not make any compromises with the exception of total misanthropic fever, historical atrocities, pure hell and death. Dauden is definitely one of the best bands that are currently devoted to the pure unlight of true Black Metal underground of extreme evilness.
