German gothic/folk rock/metal band Thanateros will re-release tomorrow (13th November) their latest album Insomnia (originally released in 2019) as a special edition via their new label Echozone. This special edition will be featuring four selected instrumental bonus tracks. After four album releases between 2000 and 2009, Thanateros are finally back with their new album Insomnia and are already setting up the production of the next album which is scheduled for the end of 2021.
In 2015, Ben Richter founded the German metal band Phosphor and released two successful albums (Raum/Zeit and Weltenbrand). While working on a third album, he heard the call of his musical roots and decided to revive Thanateros – following the words of H. P. Lovecraft: “That is not dead which can eternal lie and with strange aeons, even death may die.” Thus, he and Phosphor guitarist Chris Lang brought Thanateros back to life.
As in former times, the new line-up also includes a violinist, Christof Uhlmann. However, the Irish folk aspect recedes into the background in this second chapter of Thanateros while the band emphasizes an atmospheric, intense and deeper atmosphere. In the player below you can listen and watch the video for the track "Cthulhu Rising". Link
