Melbourne (Australia) based dark ambient act Mantis And Shadow has just released the debut album entitled capstan and bollard. A choir of trachoma angels breath the chorus of Amazing Grace. How sweet the sound. Manifest impermanence scars a course through riddles and jokes and jests.
Shaun Elstob, the man behind Mantis And Shadow comments: "I've been listening since the late 80s to (old school) industrial, industrial ambient and dark ambient and about two years ago began to make music for myself. My first album of four tracks, called capstan and bollard (lowercase intentional), is inspired, in part by my meditation practice, and in part by the loss of my wife to a chronic illness."
Ground down, glass shards in the heel, stomping and leaping and laughing: squealing like children. Rimbaud's skeletons. A chorus of angels. The album is highly recommended to any fans of dark ambient, melancholic music and meditative soundscapes, and yet capstan and bollard is available as "name your price" digital download at Mantis And Shadow Bandcamp.
