Portuguese gothic rockers NU:N just released a forgotten tape from 2014, The Weighing Of The Heart. In Porto, in October 2014, Francisco Vaudeville, T.M. and Pedro Eternal, who lived at the time in Edinburgh, combined synergies and a passion for creating sound atmospheres by recording ten tracks on a tape entitled The Weighing Of The Heart. The whole process was a path of discovery, constantly sharing ideas, sketches and concepts, creating a very particular time and space for the band's elements. This registration was never officially released, however, there was a small promotional distribution to some publishers and close friends.
At the time, after naming the band - NU:N – they signed a contract with Black Genesis Records, and this cassette, which had an edition of only one hundred copies, was kept in the drawer. The band prioritized recording for the first album Nothing Unveils Nothing, which came out in December of that same year. After these years, the Black Genesis publisher accessed all existing copies from the drawer, letting the sound follow its course.
This record, shrouded in secrecy and mystery, contains the demo versions of various themes that would later be re-recorded for the next releases and who knows for the next... we can see that the inspiration of goth rock has been intrinsic from the beginning, such as, the search for new, more ritualistic and organic sounds.
Therefore, here's the original cassette from 2014 which includes, for example, the demo versions of "Scorpio Rising" (with different lyrics), "Under Your Stars Above" and "Dance To The Sun", as well as the first recordings by "Aethyr" (later recorded with Carfax from Last Dusk), "Midnight Inertia" and "Remember Me" (later recorded with Oliver Heuer from Sweet William).
