MILDREDA - New Album Out Soon; New Video Released

Belgium based atmospheric/dark-electro/industrial act Mildreda, a solo project by Jan Dewulf (Your Life On Hold), will release on the 20th of August via label Dependent a new album entitled I Was Never Really There. Twenty years after its foundation, Mildreda deliveres so out of nowhere such a smasher, a potent hybrid of old Vancouver school (Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly) and Belgian EBM (The Klinik, Insekt). It breathes the spirit of the 90s - but with the production of 2020. There are big electro ballads like "Dream Machine" and midtempo club stompers like "Liaisons Dangereuses".

Jan Dewulf comments: "The era of inspiring bands like Placebo Effect, Numb, yelworC, Will, In Slaughter Natives and others couldn't be further away. I was determined to revisit that era with new ideas and technologies.”

Through his contacts, Jan Dewulf gets some old heroes to support Mildreda. "Erased" is a collaboration with Numb. Also, his former idols Dirk Ivens and Cyan (The Eternal Afflict) contribute guest vocals on individual tracks. None other than    Claus Larsen “Leæther Strip” did the mastering. But actually, I Was Never Really There doesn't really need all the name-dropping, because the eleven tracks speak for themselves in their quality.

A couple of days ago Mildreda released a new stunning single and video "Liaisons Dangereuses", directed by Pieter Clicteur. Jan Dewulf comments: "The song deals with that bitter feeling one can have after a failed relationship, realising things never got a chance from the start. It’s probably the main theme of the album, hence the album title I Was Never Really There. An idea that is reflected in pretty much every album track one way or another. The girl featured in the video symbolises what I like to call the “poisonous muse”: the dark muse that is throwing off her shadow on the whole album in fact. In the video you see the girl evolving from white to black. From good to evil. The video was done by the production company Pigeon Eggs, with whom I already worked together for a Your Life On Hold video clip. They introduced me to Miss C who is featured in the clip, bringing the “poisonous muse” to life. I like the dark and evil atmosphere they created, and I am truly flabbergasted by the performance of Miss C." Link
