SHEARER - Call It Quits After 20 Years

The Berlin (Germany) based dark alternative/punk band Shearer have announced the end of their 20-year long musical partnership. Since releasing their debut album Makin-A-Munson in 2006, Shearer had been a breath of fresh air in the music business. The band had been a statement against the music industry's conventions: every release was shared for free instead of the standard path of digital rights management with the potential of having to sue their fans for copyright infringement.

Three albums and countless concerts later the world has changed dramatically. During the worldwide pandemic, Shearer were no longer able to deliver their joy of playing music to their fans directly. To close this chapter of their life the band finished the last four songs for the EP Dead Band Walking which is now available for free download at the band’s Bandcamp page and streaming at all major platforms. Listen below.

The band stated the following on their Facebook page: "Hello friends, the old battleship Shearer has had some impact for quite some time now. So we have now decided to steer the ship to the safe harbour and anchor there. Sometimes you have to finish a thing before it's too late to reach the harbour. We experienced a lot on our trips. We met great people, had unforgettable evenings. We cried, we laughed, we drank, we argued (4G rule), friends came, friends went. We want to thank everyone who has supported us along our journey, shared the highs and lows with us. What the future will bring is uncertain. It is not excluded that one or the other of us will be on the same stage again. If there is something worth saying, you will surely find out about it on various channels. With one laughing and one crying eye, the four of us are now boarding." Link
