LAMENTARIUM - Second EP Out Now

Finnish melodic doom/death metal band Lamentarium self-released its second EP, Menneisyydeltä et pakoon pääse, on 8 April. The four-track Menneisyydeltä et pakoon pääse awaits you below.

Lamentarium (means sorrowful) was founded in the autumn of 2011. Band's music style was shaped into the current form in 2017 when the band decided to write new music without keyboards. The band evolved one step forward and started to compose new songs. There have been many lineup changes, and the latest crew has been playing together for over a year now.

Lamentarium's music influences are Finnish melodic metal bands like Eternal Tears Of Sorrow, Insomnium, Sentenced, Swallow The Sun and Kaunis Kuolematon. In the past Lamentarium song's lyrics were written in English, but since 2021 they are all in Finnish. Here are the stories behind tracks: The first song, "Menneisyydeltä et pakoon pääse", is the story of a bullied schoolboy. When the boy is growing up, he notices how his unfortunate childhood has affected him. The song also includes the message for the victim's closes ones: what kind of feelings bullying is causing when people refuse or are afraid to ask how things are. The second song, "Kun me kuolemme" (when we die), is cogitation about what we are leaving behind when we die. How can you measure your life/success, or even can you? One thing is for sure: for all living people, there is death in the end. The third song, "Usva laskeutuu" (the mist falls), is instrumental. It is a kind of an intro for the EP's final song. There is an image from an autumn misty morning where the roads are often slippery and wet. EP's final song is called "Armahdus" (euthanasia). It is a story about a motorist who falls and gets into a traffic accident. The person loses the ability to move and the will to live. The only way to communicate with others is to blink the eyes asking to end the life. The patient's last wish is euthanasia.

Lamentarium is: Marko Kettunen (vocals), Markus Tuupanen (drums), Niko Oksman (guitar), Timo Rännäli (bass) and Tommi Saarelainen (guitar). Link
