Venezuelan doom-death outfit Stratuz today released its fourth full-length, Osculum Pacis, via Sliptrick Records. The album features 11 new tracks with a wide range of new sounds, composed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic against all odds. Lyrically, the album's tracks speak of the abuses of the church and its deafening silence in the face of so many denunciations of abuse, it speaks of the manipulation of the masses, injustice, but at the same time, it also speaks of the awakening of consciousness, of death as a process of transformation, the need to change ourselves to rise and banish our miseries, it speaks of rising awareness of who we are.
Stratuz recorded the songs at The Asylum Studio, with production being handled by Franklin Berroterán. Mixing and Mastering were done by Arturo Banús in Chicago, Illinois. The artwork for Osculum Pacis was created by Eugenia Bathoriya. All music and lyrics for Stratuz are by Gerónimo Egea and Franklin Berroterán.
Stratuz was formed in 1984, and it released its first demo in 1993. In 1995 the band made a split album In Nomine, which placed itself very well abroad. At the end of 1999, Stratuz's album The Last Angel got released and achieved excellent reviews in Venezuela and abroad. Stratuz then signed with Belgium label LSP Company for the Spirit Seduction album released in January 2000. In 2006 the band disbanded, and in 2019 re-established. In 2021 Stratuz inked a deal with Sliptrick Records for the release of Osculum Pacis.
