The USA based atmospheric black metal/post-metal act Nirensimt, consisting of Peder Simon (guitars, vocals, drum programming, songwriting) and Eric Perkins (bass guitar), yesterday self-released a new album, Ecstasy/Agony, and its instrumental version.
Ecstasy/Agony is the next evolution of Peder Simon's once-solo Nirensimt sound that has been blackening with every release, adding vocals for the first time and employing the talents of former collaborator Eric Perkins on bass to bring Nirensimt's best, most beautiful, and most brutal album to date. With seven tracks clocking in at an epic 52 minutes, this release traverses the spectrum from slow and majestic to blistering and haunting without feeling overly long and bloated. Lyrics screamed and sung by Peder weave mystical allegories for facing trauma with imagery of a universe that is every bit as beautiful as we make it.
