VALBORG - Shares New Single/Video From Upcoming Album

Valborg has shared another single/video from its upcoming album Der Alte (The Old One), scheduled for release on 9 September. With the new release, "Hektor", Valborg offers a short, sharp glimpse of its industrial side, driven by a chugging Motörhead groove.

Valborg's drummer Florian Toyka comments: "Every now and then a song comes along, which has me immediately convinced that it is a total hit - as was the case with 'Beerdigungsmaschine' on 'Endstrand' for example. This also happened with 'Hektor', which is at the same time powerful, straightforward, simple, very short, and has a good deal of impelling closed hi-hat greatness. I am always extremely psyched to play this track! It feels like a powerful steam train relentlessly pushing forward, which makes it one of my personal favourites on this record. The science fiction lyrics deal with the great invisible xenomorphic manipulation that has an influence on some humans just by chance".

Valborg was conceived in Bonn, the former capital of West Germany in the country's most populous state, North Rhine-Westphalia, in 2002. The trio's self-released debut album, Songs For A Year, was released in 2005 and followed up by Glorification Of Pain (2009), Crown Of Sorrow (2010), Barbarian (2011), and Nekrodepression in 2012. Critics have compared Valborg with such artists as Godflesh, Celtic Frost, Triptykon and Type O Negative, among others, though the trio clearly went its own way and continued to defy easy categorisations as the following three full-length releases Romantik (2015), Endstrand (2017), and Zentrum (2019).

With Der Alte, Valborg delivers more than tasty bittersweet ear candy for its loyal fanbase as their harsh but simplified new tracks will easily appeal to a much broader audience that craves brutal, dark and highly intelligent music. Now, meet "Hektor". Link
