Chicago (USA) based symphonic metal revivalists Shield Of Wings have taken to a frostbitten forest to carol out an acapella rendition of the classic Christmas hymn, "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel". The year 2023 has been full of acapella mini-tributes by the band, arranged by bassist Alex Luke, but this arrangement comes from Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, adapted for the three singers in the band.
The band comments: "'O Come, O Come, Emmanuel' hearkens the coming of Christmas, and a new year full of opportunity. The 16° F night of the video filming kept us chilled to the bone, and our candles kept being snuffed by the brisk wind, but pressing through this has convinced us that we can accomplish so much when we are resolved to do so. We in Shield Of Wings wish you and yours a very lovely holiday season, and a blessed new year."
Shield Of Wings released their debut full-length album, Unfinished, in January of 2022, and they have not let up their efforts since. After an eventful year of storming stages with bands like Moonspell, Eleine, and Visions Of Atlantis, and festivals like Legions Of Metal and Mad With Power, the band settles in for a long winter of reflection and focus.
Now get in the Christmas mood with Shield Of Wings and their rendition of "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel". Link
