New York (USA)-based neoclassical/ambient/experimental artist Mizu will release her second full-length, Forest Scenes, on the 22nd of March via NNA Tapes. Forest Scenes is conceptually and aesthetically brilliant. In the past, Mizu has drawn comparisons to Oliver Coates and Clarice Jensen. But Forest Scenes' headlong dive into deconstructionist experimentation and ontological interrogration may bring to mind Arca, Oneohtrix Point Never or Hatis Noit. And of course, many may recognize Mizu's effervescent playing from her recent collaborations with Maria BC and Rachika Nayar.
Through layers of gorgeous, yearning cello, pulsating electronics and hyperreal field recordings, Mizu evokes a sense of depth by interrogating systems and exploring unknown territories both physical and cerebral. By way of its daring experimentalism, Forest Scenes is patently modern and brilliantly ontological. Check out the first revealed single and video "Pavane" right below. Link
