The USA-based dark electronic pop artist Brittany Bindrim has shared a new single/lyric video, "Fever Dreams". The second to be issued ahead of her forthcoming debut solo album, Velella Velella, she explains that the song is "dedicated to the cyclical, feverish love affair and heartbreak of the creative/songwriting process".
Produced by Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Poppy, Puscifer), "Fever Dreams" showcases Bindrim's infectious hooks and uplifting vocals, with the single package also including a trance remix and extended version by Ken 'hiwatt' Marshall (Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Linkin Park) that is aimed firmly at the dancefloor.
Known for her catchy melodies and powerhouse vocal performances in the post-industrial rock band I:Scintilla, Bindrim's solo career has moved into the electronic realm with the assistance of producer McJunkins, with "Fever Dreams" following the recent "Obelisk" single in the build-up to the release of Velella Velella, which is out on 8 March via Metropolis Records. "The songwriting process for every song on the album was a little different, but I didn't try to force ideas or overthink things", she continues. "Each song developed very naturally and instinctively."
From moody, ethereal ballads to gritty dance bangers, Velella Velella showcases both the versatility and evolution of Bindrim's work. Channelling transformation and sociopolitical climates and exploring our understanding of the darker side of human nature, her vulnerable and unapologetic lyrics showcase themes of self-discovery, empathy, apathy, disillusionment and growth.
