SMRT - Releases Sophomore Full-Length Barcelona At 9

Barcelona-based progressive black metal band SMRT has recently released via Dead Seed Productions its sophomore full-length entitled Barcelona At 9. A follow-up to in 2020 released Sado Masochistic Ritual Temple, comes with much improved sound and it's full of magic. Barcelona At 9 is a psycho-magical odd time travel to the healing and liberation of inherited negative subconscious and behaviour patterns. The album is a product of family patterns repetition and new creative ideas from the future. Don Ellis' odd timings and Jodorowsky's psycho-magical influenced black metal. They call their style "free metal".

SMRT was founded in 2007 by well-known promoter, manager and musician Bastian Doblekar. Recent line-up consists of vocalist Doblekar, guitarists Birk Gjerlufsen Nielsen (Demon Head) and Hrodiriks (Obskkvlt), bassist Carlos Leonardo (Human Carnage, Mollitiam, ex-Metal Against Coronavirus,...), and drummer Marcelo Aires (Axia, Norunda, The Ominous Circle, W.A.K.O., ex-Crisix,...).

The artist's meditation is black. He has to commit another suicide. Artistic suicide of an artist who persistently follows his vision of primitive creativity. Primitive that is original, avant-garde, progressive and futuristic. But also cynical, hostile, and apocalyptic. Immune and neutral to politics. He found himself facing the artist's dilemma long ago. All the secrets are fully revealed to him. He is using his creativity to heal himself. The artist is beyond the black and white conflict of good and evil. Nothing is wrong. It is only different. He has a goal to reach without expectations of positive criticism or acceptance, without being afraid to be offensive and vulgar. With changing the formation of time, he is now obsessed with change, his death. Creative death. Suicide as the last act of art, the triumph of opposites.

SMRT's new album Barcelona At 9 might be that little something new in black metal that you've been searching for. Give it a try, the entire album is available for streaming right below. Link
