The international ensemble Black Egg came out with some big news and a new video. You remember that we posted news about their upcoming album Melencholia (out today - 4th September via [aufnahme + wiedergabe]), if not check out the news and video for the track "In The Black Sun" over HERE. Now, you might be a bit confused, but the band will actually release two albums.
Black Egg's mastermind Usher San explained: "Is it Schizophrenia? A split personality? No. Two albums of Black Egg are out almost at the same time for no other reason than vinyl pressing deadlines that delayed Melencolia (LP + CD) for almost a year. So now two albums see the light of day: Melencolia [aufnahme + wiedergabe] and Songs Of Death And Deception (Unknown Pleasures records). Two very different albums in terms of design, inspiration and aesthetics, but both part of the same coherent and unified artistic perspective. Melencolia looks at this world as it is: dark, disembodied, filled with wandering souls that magick failed, calling for simplicity. It was essentially composed, recorded and worked on extensively by the Black Egg collective throughout 2013 and 2014. Songs Of Death And Deception was initiated after Melencolia following the death of Usher San’s father on October 29, 2014. A dark inspiration breeding acoustic songs: a stripped, logical continuation from where Melencolia left of, revisiting some of its titles through a new prism, in that dark light. From the Melencolia of Dürer to this day, melancholy has always been more than a state of mind or a mental illness, it has been a particular focus on the existence through the means of an extreme lucidity and the genius of a contemplative aesthetic."
Songs Of Death And Deception will be released on 29th September via Unknown Pleasures records (pre-orders available at this location). The first single, "We Shall Win", is out now with an accompanying video clip. Video was directed by Sébastien Faits-Divers and you can watch it below. Link
