British atmospheric black metal act Arx Atrata will self-release on 12th September their sophomore album entitled Spiritus In Terra. The upcoming album was completely written, performed and recorded by Arx Atrata, it features seven tracks in the vein of Coldworld, Summoning, Winterfylleth, Paysage D’Hiver, Darkspace, Alcest, Woods Of Ypres, Agalloch and similar.
The band commented about their sound: "The sounds on Spiritus In Terra are influenced by various different types of black metal, from the atmospheric and heavily synth-led to the more traditional blast-beat and trem-picked approaches. This isn't post black metal but some of that influence might have crept in as well; you be the judge."
Arx Atrata' mastermind is Ben Sizer, who is also guitarist and chief songwriter in Nottingham death/doom metal band Twilight’s Embrace. Arx Atrata released the well-received worldwide debut album, Oblivion, in December 2013. Spiritus In Terra is available for pre-orders at this location.
