The malicious Swedish black metallers El Camino will release their new album entitled Cursed Congregation on 2nd July via To The Death/Night Tripper Records. This is a gritty, slow-burning black metal album with elements of thrash, doom and heavy metal to make it stand apart from their peers. It's most reminiscent of the Greek black metal scene. These Swedes are eschewing the Dissection-esque done-to-death sound and are going for something more original and authentic. The result is a plodding, intriguing affair, evocative of a H.P. Lovecraft setting and permeating a sense of looming dread. Well-placed leads lighten up the sordid affair, as the music trudges further into deeper mental caverns and hidden structures. Morbidly dark, upbeat and tantalizing, El Camino are on to something very special. Two tracks out of the album can be heard in the player below. Link
