London based artist Anji Cheung will release a new EP entitled Spirit As Creature on 25th August via Utech Records. Anji Cheung is known for mesmerising layered drones, pulsing electronics and words sung, screamed or spoken beckoning all to the ritual. Her soundscapes are offerings that permeate and linger. With releases on Aurora Borealis Recordings and Strange Rules and recently opening for KTL and Merzbow/Pándi, Utech Records is happy to present Anji Cheung’s first US release – Spirit As Creature.
Spirit As Creature bears two tracks that are Dionysian in nature. Persistent drones and muted cadence reflect on Bataille’s thirst for annihilation as a numinous rite of passage. Listen to the track named "A Return To The Innermost" in the player below. Link
