HIIDENHAUTA - Release Video For The Track From Upcoming Album

Finnish melodic black metal band Hiidenhauta released a music video for the track "Nälkäkevät", taken from their upcoming second album titled 1695. The album's theme revolves around the Great Famine of 1695-1697, a great calamity which beset the Finnish area at the time. During the period, approximately every third citizen of Finland (then under the Swedish rule) met their end as a result of starvation or epidemics. The lyrics of Hiidenhauta are written in Finnish, abiding by the poetic Kalevala meter. History and nature are among the prominent themes of the band's lyrics. The album will be released on 16th March via Inverse Records.
Vocalist and lyricist Tuomas Keskimäki comments: ""Nälkäkevät" was an unanimous choice for a music video song from the very beginning. It sums up the whole album; music and lyrics. In many songs, the album grabs onto the destinies of different individuals, as "Nälkäkevät" considers the big picture first, and finally ends up a single person's despair and surrender. There's also the heart of the song in these themes; that moment when everything is lost. During the Great Famine of 1695-1697 not a single group of people could avoid death, even the King was dying. The information of mass-deaths and famine reached Stockholm but the area of Finland was in encirclement, so help was impossible to get through. All of these reasons together formed some sort of biblical symphony of fate." The video was done by AirAction Oy and you can watch it in the player below.
