The legendary Norwegian experimental rock/electronic/metal act Manes is returning on 24th August with a new album entitled Slow Motion Death Sequence. The album will be released through Debemur Morti Productions and is the most fully realised manifestation of the inimitable vision they first unveiled on 2003’s Vilosophe.
The band continue to riff on late 90s progressive experimentation of the Norwegian metal avant-garde (In The Woods…, The 3rd And The Mortal, Solefald, Ulver,...), deftly weaving the left-field oddity of that period through hook-ridden pop music and tripped-out electronica.
An eclectic set containing the strongest and most persuasive songs of their 25-year career, Slow Motion Death Sequence is truly a record for late nights – when the small hours draw addictive fascination from seemingly outlandish soundworlds. Guest female vocalists on the album are Ana Carolina Ojeda (Mourning Sun) and Anna Murphy (ex-Eluveitie)
Manes now gives us the first taste of it by presenting an official video for the album opener "Endetidstegn". Video was directed by Guilherme Henriques and you can watch it in the player below.
The band comments: "The title "Endetidstegn" is Norwegian and translates as sign (or signs) of the end times. A lot can be found right there. In many ways, it can deal with the notion of inevitability or destiny, and how some feel constricted by this - and thus how the signs of what is to come is merely registered and nothing more. As with much of what we do, this song has a somewhat conceptual framework, but is truly given definition or signification in convergence with a listener. The proverbial fist that hits you in the stomach hits even harder when formed in your own head.” Link
