Swiss ambient/post-rock band Killbody Tuning has shared the first song, "Our DNA", from their upcoming album entitled Pictorial. The album will be released on 16th November through Hummus Records. Listen to "Our DNA" in the player below.
The song makes use of the double harmonic minor scale, the one that musicians from the Western world always go to when they want to make a melody sound "exotic" or "Arabian". Killbody Tuning split it into three parts. The two "bookends" sound similar, though the second one starts with a punkier feel. The middle part delights listeners with a mass of feedbacky noise that the band managed to record in one take. They were as wise in keeping the take as they were wise to include it in the first place.
Emotional, contemplative and epic, the music of Killbody Tuning is a world of instrumental soundscapes shaped by ambient, rock and post-rock. Since taking off in 2005, the band has always tried to depart from the conventional forms of rock.
