Suicide Echoes, a one-man project by Portuguese singer, songwriter and composer Sid Aeternus was created in the year 2007 in Coimbra after some years of search for other members for the formation of a band, and such revealing to be useless, decides to develop his work alone. Now a new album, They're Killing Us, released via collaboration between labels Abismo Humano and Cosa Nostra Dark Club, is upon us, bringing full of melancholia filled goth/darkwave music inspired by witching atmospheres in which harmony appeared as hypnotizing as the useful light conducting dawn. They're Killing Us is already the eighth album by Suicide Echoes, who released its debut album, Requiem For A Suicide, in 2009 while Sid was living in Paris. One year after that Sid moved to Lisbon and recorded From Ashes… To Hell, proceeding with a very dark neo-classic-dark-wave kind of sound. Suicide Echoes with the new offering They're Killing Us will bring tears of joy in the eyes of fans of Fields Of The Nephilim, Arcana, Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows, Christian Death, Garden Of Delight and similar artists. Sid Aeternus was kind enough and gave us an exclusive, short, but right to the point 'song by song' commentary of the album.

1. GOD (Intro)
This song is made with an orthodox chant and some street preacher samples. Two faces of God: beauty and religious fanaticism, enlightenment and ignorance.
2. They’re Killing Us
The song who gives name to the album talks about a conspiracy theory that says illuminati want to reduce humanity to 500 000 000 people. The general theme running through these theories is either that there is an imminent plan to reduce population using an overpopulation crisis as the pretext, or a secret eugenics plan cover-up. The elite thus need to kill off the "useless eaters" so, in the first case, they survive the crisis and, in the second, they can create either enough robots to replace them, or a new race of obedient super-humans. This song is my first approach to gothic rock in the album.
3. Live Gladly
Well, this one is like a second intro. A Dark ambient song with a loop who tell us to: “Live Gladly, Die Gladly”… Maybe something like… Live ignorant? It’s all about depopulation again, but going through another perspective too. Make people ignorant enough to obey.
4. Dying
A down-tempo song, with a strong bass-line who guides us to a dark place where the Living and the dead get together. Reality meets conspiracy, when a life experience is revealed as part of the conspiracy.
5. This Pain (Inside)
This song sounds to me like a prayer, guided by the guitars… Screaming to a higher entity to hear me, to support me, to help me. To take this pain away and restore my life to its normal state.
6. Father
The second single, is maybe the strongest song in the album. The more intimate song too. A song dedicated to my father. When you make a song where you reveal your deepest feelings in a simple and direct way, you’re giving a little bit of yourself. Beautiful guitar melodies and painful voices…
