Alcest - Shelter: In one word Shelter is pure sonic beauty! Once again new musical territories have beign discovered, vast atmospheres that simply sucks you into their world. And like the album title suggest, Shelter is giving you a safe, comfortable, yet warm place to escape from everydays rutines. Shelter embraces with its shoegaze textures and dreamy soundscapes. A lot of acoustic guitar passages perfectly give air to a bit heavier, still often melodic, post-rock guitar riffs, simply mesmerizing synths and unique ethereal vocals, just to form an outstanding experience. Ghost Brigade - IV-One With The Storm: Ghost Brigade's newest effort is a bombastic, introspective space odyssey, filled with angst, grief and absolute numbness. A blend of so many various genres, such as post-metal, post-hardcore and alternative metal with gothic-esque and doomish insertions can be risky, but Ghost Brigade managed to catch the dynamics between these elements on IV – One With The Storm and delivered another sonic masterpiece. God's Own Medicine - Drachma: God's Own Medicine can tease with melancholic tracks, but as well rock hard on the upbeat ones, then again being not afraid to experiment with some post-punk and of course gothic rock. No matter in which direction the album goes it always keeps the right flow, thus beign very dynamic, sincerely dramatic and is full of special pathos. So pretty varied contrast of sounds, yet always being compact and nicely flowing. Read a review HERE. Links: Facebook
Kalt - The Invisible: The solo gothic rock venture of the German multi-instrumentalist and composer Mike York, who is also well known as guitar player - formerly with the legendary Garden Of Delight, released a free-willed album which portrays the artist's inner maze on impulsive swells of hate and devotion with a strong filmic character. Mike weaves here an embrace of anguish and comfort over the listener, providing an ultimately inspirational roller coaster ride. Links: Website, Facebook
Merciful Nuns - Meteora VII: Meteora VII is its linkage with Artaud's first musical incarnation, Garden Of Delight, in particular with their influential album Necromanteion IV. Both records hold in common the lyrical references to the Greek mythology and besides the faithful manner in which music reflects that occult, ancestral imagery on the basis of an anthemic strings driving, a deep pounding of drum thuds and, above all, the epic chilled vibe triggers which are strategically located in the excellent vocals of Seth, as well as being synthed into the backdrop. New Model Army - Between Wine And Blood: 30 years have elapsed since the release of New Model Army's debut album Vengeance, yet this unrivalled band from Bradford seems definitely embarked on its second youth. The new songs on Between Wine And Blood give continuity to the preceding ones on 2013's Between Dog And Wolf, embodying the band's wholly owned stirring rawness in duly retrofit sounds that still retain the fierce, frankness and passion which have made New Model Army a legend. The Birthday Massacre - Superstition: An album every The Birthday Massacre fan would and should like and an album that 80s new romantics meets synthpop meets flirty and rich in sound pop music nostalgics should find pleasure in and this album is undoubtedly their absolutely best. They have proven they know just how to shift through various musical styles that influence their sound and put each and every one of those in faultless equilibrium. More than noteworthy release that can be proud to present itself with its shining diversity, uncompromising coherence, larger-than-life melodies and obsolete tranquility all in one.
