Terra Relicta web magazine this time offers you an exclusive streaming premiere of a brand new track, "In Flight", from Chalk Portraits. In case you don't know, Chalk Portraits is a one-man ambient/experimental project of Greg Kennelty, whose name you might know from sites bylines on sites like Metal Injection and Gear Gods.
"In Flight" is part of an upcoming, currently unannounced album called _Welcome Home_ due out in 2022. In the meantime, fans can stream the new album Memory (which is tonally pretty similar), released on the 7th of May, which you can listen to in its entirety over HERE.
The new track, ""In Flight", is meant to evoke the feeling of going somewhere new, but somewhere that feels like home. I love how the song is bookended by these reverb-heavy passages", explains Greg Kennelty. "As if the listener was stationary and watching the plane go by. Plus, the heavily delayed drums and synthwave-style bass (to me, at least) really drive home that feeling of being in motion. I'm extremely proud of this song and I can't wait for everyone to hear it in its full context on my new album in 2022! For now, enjoy "In Flight"!"
Chalk Portraits is an evolving space that encompasses ambient reminiscent of artists like Abul Mogard, Kelly Moran and Arp while looking toward more compositional elements found in video game soundtracks and Disney BGM.
