KOUTA - Exclusive Premiere Of New Video Single "Sukujyrkkämä"

Terra Relicta web magazine has teamed up with Finnish folk/black metallers Kouta for an exclusive premiere of the new video/single "Sukujyrkkämä". This is the second single to be revealed from the band's upcoming debut album entitled Kaarnaköydet, which will be released on the 21st of April as a self-release.

Bassist Arttu Pentikäinen stated about the video: “Shooting the video for "Sukujyrkkämä" in our national landscapes was rewarding. I think visual aid feeds the music strongly and therefore shapes the listening experience. It's inspiring to see other creative people working on a story based on your own music through the art of cinema. I look forward to hearing listeners' feedback on the album!“

The single “Sukujyrkkämä” is a blast like no other, where the elements of Kouta’s music are well on display. The music video takes the listener to the dark world of northern senicide and fratricide.

Drawing on the rich tapestry of black metal and folk traditions, this musical journey takes you on a thrilling ride through a sonic landscape like no other. The new single "Sukujyrkkämä", which will be officially released on the 5th of April, perfectly mixes typical Nordic folk/pagan metal with not-so-traditional black and extreme metal. Captivating melodies, eerie soundscapes and aggressive instrumentation are well combined with folk melody and ferocious blackened screams. It's nothing weird if we say that Kouta's music will appeal to different types of listeners, so fans of Behemoth, …And Oceans, Anaal Nathrakh, Lorna Shore, Paara, Finntroll and even Wardruna, should give it a try.

Building on the foundations laid by their earlier EP Aarnihauta (released in March 2022), Kouta weaves a dark and intricate web of sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new. At the heart of Kaarnaköydet lies a gripping narrative centred around the tragic story of two brothers. Through their music, Kouta explores the complex and often tumultuous emotions of shame, guilt, and catharsis, inviting the listener to join them on a powerful and emotional journey of aesthetically peripheral discovery.

Kouta is a new band, formed in 2021 and already with their upcoming debut full-length and tour, the band is poised to make a significant impact on the metal world. Each Kouta's track is a unique and finely crafted piece in its own right, contributing to a coherent and immersive listening experience that must be heard in full to truly appreciate its beauty. Now give yourself a chance to "Sukujyrkkämä" and let yourself be taken into the intriguing world of Kouta.
