Terra Relicta webmagazine is proud to offer you an exclusive premiere of Cate Rox new single "Down With The Sickness", a cover of Disturbed's track. This is the first single from her upcoming album entitled Fire Lungs.
Cate Rox was not only able to sing before she learned how to talk, but she also dreamt of becoming a singer, taking the stage, showing her talent and sharing her stories with the world, since her earliest childhood. With 14 Cate bought her first guitar and began to write songs about her real life experiences. In late 2013 she reached out to a producer in a recording studio, with the intention of recording a few of her original songs, mostly for herself really. However the producer quickly noticed, that Cate was more than just a very good singer, and he recognised the uniqueness of her voice, combined with the talent of conveying her emotions straight to the listener in a pure and honest form. He realised that these abilities made Cate Rox an exeptional talent and an artist with a sincere message. Therefore he offered her a collaboration, which she gladly accepted. This was the official starting point in Cate Rox's music career. Thereupon Cate worked on many songs for her first album, recorded and arranged them together with her producer. Furthermore they put together a live band, consisting of three members. Cate Rox always wanted to be a singer. She released her debut album, Mind Vs Heart, in 2016, and is now back with the release of the first single from her second album titled Fire Lungs which will be released later in 2018.
The album represents a new chapter for Cate Rox and it is a good representation of her development as an artist and an individual and offers a more coherent sound. The main theme of the album is fire, which primarily stands for passion. There are no more pop elements in her music and Fire Lungs is definitely a rock album with a pretty dark and heavy vibe.
Part of the album was recorded at ES Music in Karlstad, Sweden during March 2017. The remaining songs were then recorded in Germany at studio 'Regniet' in November under the production of Kristofer Strandberg from the band Eyes Wide Open.
